Chamucos Tequila Reposado is a premium 100% blue agave tequila from the Los Altos (Highlands) region of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The brand was founded in 1994 by Oscar-nominated Mexican film director Antonio Urrutia and hand-blown glass artist Cesar Hernandez, with production overseen by renowned Master Distiller Ing. Hector Davalos. The agave is sourced from certified organic farms in the highlands of Jalisco, where mineral-rich soil and higher elevation contribute to a high sugar content of 27โ30 Brix.
The tequila is slow-cooked in masonry brick ovens, naturally fermented using a proprietary yeast strain in open vat tanks, and twice distilled in stainless steel alambique pot stills, followed by multi-stage micro, polish, and cold filtration. As a Reposado ("rested") expression, it is aged a minimum of 6 to 8 months in virgin American white oak and virgin French oak barrels with a medium toast, yielding a pale straw color and a distinctly soft, silky character.
The nose offers cooked blue agave, tropical fruit, vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, cinnamon, fennel, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, flavors of toffee, butterscotch, and gentle spice complement the agave character, with a lingering finish of fruit, vanilla, and pleasant warmth. Chamucos is certified Non-GMO and is presented in hand-blown recycled glass bottles, reflecting the brand's commitment to sustainability and artisanal craft. The brand is sold in eight countries worldwide.
