Château Clerc Milon 2021 is a Fifth Growth Grand Cru Classé from the prestigious Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux's Left Bank. Owned by Baron Philippe de Rothschild since 1970, this estate has been revitalized to produce exceptional wines that showcase the terroir of Pauillac. The 2021 vintage is composed of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
The wine displays an intense red color with violet highlights. The nose opens with aromas of black fruits such as cherries and cassis, followed by chocolate, roasted notes, sandalwood, and hints of vanilla. The palate is polished and well-structured with a medium body and firm yet creamy, broad tannins. It offers succulent fruit flavors with silky tannins and a fine balance between acidity and richness, guaranteeing long aging potential.
The 2021 vintage has received notable critical acclaim with scores including James Suckling 93-94/100, Terre de Vins 95-96/100, Bettane & Desseauve 93-94/100, Jane Anson 95/100, Antonio Galloni 94/100, William Kelley 93/100, and Georgina Hindle 93/100. Critics praise its captivating complexity, refined elegance, and exceptional structure. The wine is drinking beautifully now but has excellent aging potential of 15 to 20 years. This wine pairs perfectly with beef, lamb, poultry, and game meats.
