Château La Gaffelière is a prestigious Bordeaux estate located in Saint-Émilion, France, nestled between the celebrated hills of Pavie and Ausone, south of the village of Saint-Émilion. The estate has been governed by the de Malet-Roquefort family for over three centuries and was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B when the Saint-Émilion classification was first established in 1955. The 2021 vintage is notably the estate's final release under this distinguished classification, as it subsequently chose to withdraw from the classification system prior to the 2022 vintage.

The 2021 Château La Gaffelière is a blend of 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Franc, sourced from a 22-hectare vineyard with full southern exposure across three distinct Saint-Émilion terroirs: the limestone plateau, clay-limestone hillside, and the siliceous foot of the slope. After fermentation, the wine is aged 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, imparting structure and complexity while preserving the vineyard's freshness and purity of fruit.

On the nose, the 2021 offers aromas of sweet cherries, fresh berries, licorice, and loamy soil, with elegant secondary notes of lavender, mocha, dried herbs, and leather. The palate is medium to full-bodied, seamless and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit backed by lively acidity and ripe, powdery tannins that lead to a long, persistent finish.
