Château Giscours 2021 is a prestigious Third Growth Margaux from one of Bordeaux's most historic estates, classified in the 1855 Classification. This elegant red blend combines 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot from a 102-hectare vineyard featuring gravel terroir with sand and limestone soils.
The wine is crafted using traditional methods with manual harvesting, optical grape sorting, and fermentation in stainless steel and concrete tanks. It is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, with 50% new oak, developing layers of complexity and structure. The estate, under the Albada Jelgersma family ownership since 1995, produces wines known for their balance, elegance, and refined Margaux character.
Tasting notes reveal aromas of dark berries, licorice, violet, and forest floor, with a medium to full-bodied palate offering flavors of currant, chocolate, sandalwood, and spice. The wine displays beautifully polished tannins, a velvety texture, and a long perfumed finish with notes of blueberries, black cherries, plums, slate, tobacco, cinnamon, and tea leaves. This vintage is characterized by freshness, silky textures, and precision, making it one of the standout wines of the 2021 vintage. The wine is recommended for drinking between 2026 and 2050, allowing it to develop further complexity with age.
