Château Haut Brisson is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate spans 18 hectares across the villages of Saint-Émilion, Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, Vignonet, and Libourne, with vineyards averaging 40 years of age planted on clay-limestone and sandy soils. Produced in the 2021 vintage (Rouge 2021), this red wine blends approximately 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc and reaches 13.5% ABV.
On the nose and palate, the 2021 is medium-bodied, soft, fresh, and energetic, with ripe red plums, raspberries, and red cherries. A complicating touch of orange rind and spice distinguishes the finish, adding elegance and lift. It earned a 90-point score from The Wine Cellar Insider and is best enjoyed between 2024 and 2032. The estate holds ISO 14001 environmental management certification and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, with ongoing conversion to organic viticulture. Michel Rolland serves as consulting oenologist.
Wines are aged in a combination of 40% new French oak barrels and 60% previously used barrels following manual harvest and fermentation in both barrels and stainless steel tanks. Annual production is approximately 30,000 bottles. Château Haut Brisson pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, veal, duck, game, and roasted or grilled preparations. It is also recommended alongside mushroom dishes and pasta. Decant young vintages for one to two hours before serving.
