Château Capbern is a prestigious red Bordeaux from the Saint-Estèphe appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. This 2021 vintage is produced by Château Capbern, an estate with roots dating back to 1894 and now owned by Suravenir Insurance, with noted winemaker Laurent Dufau at the helm. The 33-hectare Médoc vineyard is planted on a mix of gravel, clay, and chalky soils, with vines averaging around 20 years of age.

The 2021 blend is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, harvested at 36 hL/ha with a 20-day cuvaison and aged for 18 months in 60% new French oak barrels. At 12.8% ABV, it opens with aromas of espresso, flowers, Indian spices, and bright red fruits. The palate is medium-bodied, soft, vibrant, and crisp, with red fruits showing sweetness, lift, and energy, finishing with a refreshing hint of mint. Rated 91 points by critics, it drinks well young and has a cellaring window of 2025–2038.

Best served at around 60°F (15.5°C), ideally with an hour of decanting to allow the wine to open up. Pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, and hearty pasta dishes.
