Margerum Über Syrah is a premium red wine from Santa Barbara County, California, crafted by Margerum Wine Company. Born from a vision to create the ultimate Syrah, ÜBER is a co-fermentation of fruit sourced from the finest Santa Barbara County Syrah vineyards, drawing from multiple acclaimed sites including the Margerum Estate (five clones), Black Oak (two clones), Rancho Boa Vista, Zotovich, and Watch Hill — spanning the Los Olivos District, Los Alamos, Sta. Rita Hills, and Ballard Canyon appellations. Three of the Estate clones are co-planted with 5% Viognier, lending aromatic lift and complexity to the blend.

The wine is matured for approximately 16 months in French oak barriques (approximately 63% new Ermitage oak), left unracked until bottling, and is unfined and unfiltered for maximum varietal expression. Deep, concentrated dark red in color, the wine opens with aromas of dark brambleberry, fennel, black licorice, rhubarb, pink and black peppercorn, thyme, and grilled meat, with earthy notes of tobacco and leather in the background. On the palate it is rich, round, and full-bodied with gobs of dark fruit, interwoven with hints of cocoa powder, black olive, and Mediterranean spices.
