Vignobles Mayard's La Crau de Ma Mère is a premier red wine from the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in France's southern Rhône Valley. Named after the "La Crau" lieu-dit — a single, celebrated vineyard site — this wine embodies the richness and depth that has made Châteauneuf-du-Pape one of France's most revered wine appellations. Sold as a case of 12 bottles, each 750ml.
The wine is a Grenache-dominant blend, typically composed of approximately 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah. It is aged primarily in large foudre barrels, with the Mourvèdre and Syrah components seeing smaller oak. On the nose, the wine offers aromas of blackberries and black cherries with hints of vanilla, cedar, and scorched earth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly concentrated — tannic but ripe, with a long, layered finish featuring notes of licorice, dark chocolate, and ground pepper. Critics have awarded recent vintages 95–96 points from Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck, with outstanding aging potential of 15 or more years.
Domaine Mayard is a family-run domaine based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with deep roots in the southern Rhône. La Crau de Ma Mère ("The Crau of My Mother") is their flagship bottling, sourced from old-vine parcels on the distinctive galets roulés (large rounded stones) that define the appellation's most prized terroirs.
