Brvghelli Pinot Noir is a premium California red wine from the Santa Maria Valley appellation on the Central Coast. Crafted by winemaker Michael Brughelli, whose Swiss-descended family settled in California's Central Valley, the wine represents the culmination of a distinguished career that includes work with legendary producers like Ken Volk Vineyards and stewardship of the iconic Solomon Hills and Bien Nacido Vineyards. Brughelli previously co-founded the acclaimed Scar of the Sea label before launching his eponymous Brvghelli Wines project.
The fruit is sourced from own-rooted vines planted in 1973 in the Santa Maria Valley. A portion undergoes gentle destemming while the remainder is kept as whole cluster. After a three-day cold soak at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the wine undergoes long native fermentation in stainless steel before aging in 33% new French oak for 20 months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered at 13.5% alcohol.
Tasting notes include succulent raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and violets on the nose, followed by hints of dusty chaparral, sandalwood, pronounced minerality, and exotic spices. The palate is precise with linear tension through the mid-palate, finishing long with candied red cherry and sea spray. Sold at Costco as a 4-pack of 750ML bottles.
