Old Grand-Dad 16 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a landmark limited release from Beam Suntory — the first-ever age-stated expression from this storied brand. Distilled at Jim Beam's Clermont, Kentucky distillery, it is aged a full 16 years in new charred American oak barrels and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). The expression draws on Old Grand-Dad's signature high-rye mash bill of 63% corn, 27% rye, and 10% malted barley, the same recipe maintained since the brand's acquisition in 1987.

The Old Grand-Dad brand was created by Raymond B. Hayden and named after his grandfather Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr., with roots stretching back to 1882. Today it sits within Beam Suntory's "The Olds" Collection alongside Old Overholt, Old Tub, and Old Crow. This 2024 release is presented in a throwback label design featuring the brand's classic orange coloring.

On the nose, the whiskey delivers Snickerdoodle cookies, caramel, dark cherry, plum, apricot, vanilla, and well-developed seasoned oak. The palate opens with toasted sugars and caramelized fruits, layered with hot cinnamon, toasted star anise, clove, nutmeg, dried cherries, blood orange, and raisins, with vanilla bean providing subtle background sweetness. The finish is long and refined, offering dry musty oak, sweet cherry cola, light leather, mixed nuts, and a lingering rye spice that speaks to the bourbon's significant age and complexity.
