Silverado Vineyards GEO Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-vineyard wine sourced from the historic Mt. George Vineyard in Coombsville, a sub-appellation east of Napa Valley. The vineyard traces its roots to the 1880s, when pioneering vintner Henry Hagen first established it as a source for fine American red wines. Silverado Vineyards purchased and restored a significant portion of the site in 1988 and was part of the committee that established the Coombsville AVA in 2012, producing the first vintage of GEO that same year to mark the occasion.
GEO represents the highest expression of single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from this estate. The wine typically offers brambly aromas of blackberry, dark fruit, spice, and rich toffee, leading to a robust mouthfeel with layers of black and blue fruits, coffee, licorice, and cola that linger on the finish. Recent vintages have been composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in a mix of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels. This 3.0L double-magnum format is ideal for entertaining and long-term cellaring.
