Ippolito 1845 Gaglioppo is a red wine from Calabria, Italy, produced by Ippolito 1845, the oldest winery in Calabria. Founded in 1845 by Vincenzo Ippolito in the heart of Ciro Marina along the Ionian coast, the estate spans over 100 hectares of vineyards nestled in rolling hills and sunny plains.
Gaglioppo is the most important indigenous red grape variety of Calabria and forms the backbone of wines from the Cirò appellation. Known for its bold character, Gaglioppo typically produces wines with deep ruby color, notes of red and dark fruit, earthy undertones, and well-structured tannins that reflect the sun-drenched southern Italian terroir.
Ippolito 1845 is committed to the restoration and enhancement of native Calabrian grape varieties including Gaglioppo, Calabrese, and Pecorello. Using sustainable farming practices and innovative techniques throughout the entire production process, the winery produces wines of elegance and strong territorial identity, distributing to four continents under 14 labels.
