Martinelli's 1868 Hard Cider is a craft hard cider rooted in over 150 years of apple-pressing heritage from S. Martinelli & Company, founded in Watsonville, California. The "1868" name honors the year brothers Louis and Stephen Martinelli first pressed and fermented apples from the fertile Pajaro Valley near Monterey Bay, making them among the earliest American cider producers. This 12-pack contains twelve 12 fl oz cans at 5.7% ABV.
Unlike most commercial hard ciders, Martinelli's 1868 is crafted exclusively from US-grown fresh-pressed apples with no apple juice concentrate, added sweeteners, or preservatives. The cider is fermented using the traditional family recipe, yielding a clean, naturally flavored apple cider true to its pre-Prohibition origins.
Originally reintroduced in 2018 to celebrate Martinelli's 150th anniversary, the 1868 Hard Cider quickly earned a first-place Gold Medal in the Common Cider category at the Great International Beer, Cider, Mead, and Sake Competition in Bridgeport, Connecticut—continuing the company's award-winning tradition dating back to the California State Fair in 1890.
