Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino is a prestigious DOCG-designated red wine from the Montalcino zone of Tuscany, Italy, crafted entirely from Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello). The estate was founded in 1975 when lawyer Gabriele Mastrojanni purchased the San Pio and Loreto estates, and the winery has since risen to become one of Montalcino's most respected producers. Vineyards are situated in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate area, a terroir celebrated for producing wines of ripe fruit, depth, and finesse.
The wine displays a vivid ruby-red color with an intense bouquet of cherry, pulpy ripe plum, spice, earth, and mineral notes. On the palate it delivers a noble tannic structure that is both firm and velvety, supported by lively acidity and excellent freshness. Aging takes place over three years in Allier oak barrels of varying sizes, followed by six to eight months of bottle refinement before release. Alcohol content is 14.5%.
Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, game, lamb, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.
