Joseph Drouhin Vosne-Romanée is a premier Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy's most celebrated appellations, produced by Maison Joseph Drouhin, a family estate with roots dating to 1880. The vineyard spans the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echezeaux in the Côte de Nuits, where chalky marl soils with excellent drainage provide ideal conditions for Pinot Noir.
Grapes are hand-harvested in open-work crates with selective sorting, then fully destemmed before fermentation over 2–3 weeks in small open wooden vats using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged 14–16 months in French high forest oak barrels (20–25% new oak), preserving the fruit character while adding complexity and structure.
The wine offers supreme elegance with an intense, bright ruby color. Aromas include wild cherry, nutmeg, camphor wood, and fine leather, with hints of truffle on extended aging. The palate is smooth and complex, with excellent ripeness and a long finish. It is best consumed within 8–13 years of vintage, with up to 15 years of aging potential. Serve at 16°C (61°F).
