The Calling Terra de Promissio Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir sourced from the acclaimed Terra de Promissio ("Land of Promise") vineyard, a 50-acre estate in the Sonoma Coast AVA owned by the Karren family. The vineyard is considered one of the most iconic Pinot Noir sites in California, producing highly sought-after fruit of which The Calling acquires only a small amount each vintage.
Winemaker James MacPhail ages this wine for 15 months in 100% French oak with 30% new barrels. Grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a 17-day fermentation in French oak, with hand punch-downs three times daily to enhance flavor extraction. The wine registers 14% alcohol.
The 2022 vintage displays aromas of black cherry, red fruits, white flowers, spice, and dried herbs. On the palate, flavors of red fruits, salinity, soil, orange peel, and cherry jam give way to a long, elegant finish. This 3-liter format is equivalent to four standard 750mL bottles.
