Firestone Walker XXVIII Anniversary Ale is a limited annual release from Firestone Walker Brewing Company, celebrating the brewery's 28th year and marking the 19th edition of their celebrated Anniversary Ale series. This 12.7% ABV craft ale is a sophisticated blend of seven barrel-aged beers drawn from the brewery's cellar of nearly 1,100 barrels in Paso Robles, California.

The XXVIII blend was curated under the guidance of Brewmaster Matt Brynildson, with the winning combination composed by winemakers Molly Lonborg of Alta Colina and Little Soul Wines, and Kyle Jury and CC Aguirre of Booker Wines. The final blend consists of Stickee Monkee (37%, Central Coast Quad aged in bourbon barrels), Bravo (28%, Imperial Brown Ale aged in bourbon barrels), PaRyebola (11%, Imperial Stout aged in straight rye whiskey barrels), DDBA (9%, Imperial Special Bitter aged in bourbon barrels), WeldWerks Stout Blend (7%, Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels), Velvet Merkin (4%, Milk Stout aged in bourbon barrels), and Helldorado (4%, Blonde Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels).

Deep ruby in color, the ale opens with aromas of caramel and bourbon, with speculoos and dark cherry close behind. The mouthfeel is decadently smooth, delivering caramel cookie-like flavors complemented by rye spirit barrel-derived vanilla and oaky spice accents. A wonderful balance between decadent barleywine richness and chocolaty stout depth makes XXVIII a uniquely layered and complex drinking experience.
