Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a visually enhanced platformer adventure for Nintendo Switch, bringing the classic Wii game to modern consoles with improved graphics and all bonus content from the Nintendo 3DS version. Join Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Dixie Kong as they recover their stolen banana hoard from the villainous Tiki Tak Tribe across 80 action-packed levels spanning nine diverse worlds including jungle, volcano, beach, and cave environments.

The game features classic platforming gameplay with barrel-blasting action, mine cart rides, and the ability to ride Rambi the Rhino through challenging obstacle courses. Players can execute signature moves including Ground Pound, Roll, Blow, and Grab and Cling to overcome enemies and environmental hazards. Collect K-O-N-G letters in each level to unlock secret temple stages, hunt for hidden puzzle pieces to reveal gallery content, and gather banana coins to purchase helpful items from Cranky Kong's shop.

Two-player local co-op allows friends to team up, with one player controlling Donkey Kong and the other playing as either Diddy Kong (with Peanut Popgun and Barrel Jet abilities) or Dixie Kong (featuring Helicopter Spin for extended air time). The game includes modern mode with extra hearts and assists for easier gameplay, alongside the original difficulty mode for purists. A free update adds Turbo Attack time trial mode, enhanced visual effects, and on Nintendo Switch 2 systems, improved resolution and load times with GameShare support for local wireless multiplayer.
