Donkey Kong Bananza is an action-adventure platform game for Nintendo Switch 2 where players control Donkey Kong as he ventures underground with his companion Pauline to obtain a wish-granting object at the planetary core. The game features fully destructible environments allowing players to smash through terrain, punch downward into the ground, and tear off chunks to swing and throw. Pauline uses vocal abilities to blast rocks and grant DK special transformations known as Bananza Transformations, including Kong, Zebra, and Ostrich variants.

Players can explore sandbox-like levels, upgrade Donkey Kong's abilities by collecting banana-shaped diamonds, and obtain power-up transformations. The game supports both single-player adventure and two-player local co-op mode on one console. An Assist Mode is available featuring path guidance, aim assist, reduced damage, and health regeneration. The game supports TV mode, Tabletop mode, and Handheld mode with motion controls and Joy-Con mouse controls for co-op aiming.
