Tenuta di Capezzana Villa di Capezzana di Carmignano DOCG is a prestigious certified organic red wine produced by the Contini Bonacossi family at their historic Tuscan estate. Carmignano is one of Tuscany's smallest and most distinguished wine appellations, with documented winemaking at Capezzana dating to 804 AD and formally recognized production standards established by Grand Duke Cosimo III de Medici in 1716. For centuries it was the only red wine appellation in Italy officially permitted to include Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend—a distinction that predates the modern Super Tuscan movement by hundreds of years.

Crafted primarily from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown organically on the rolling hills of the Carmignano zone in the province of Prato, just west of Florence, the wine undergoes a meticulous two-track aging regimen: 50% rests in French oak tonneaux for at least 12 months while the other 50% matures in large oak barrels for 16 months, followed by a minimum of 12 additional months of bottle aging before release. It presents an intense ruby red color with purplish highlights and an aromatic bouquet of sour cherry, raspberry, and ripe dark fruit layered with pleasant hints of spice and leather. On the palate it is soft and enveloping with well-balanced tannins, lively acidity, and a long, complex finish with a characteristic sweet licorice aftertaste. The 2020 vintage earned 94 points from Antonio Galloni (Vinous), 93 points each from James Suckling and Wine Spectator, and was awarded 3 Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso—Italy's highest wine honor.

Best served at 16–18°C after allowing the wine to breathe for at least 30 minutes. Villa di Capezzana pairs beautifully with roasted and braised red meats, aged cheeses, and pasta with rich, savory sauces.
