Amatiteña Añejo is a single barrel, 100% Blue Weber agave tequila produced by fifth-generation Maestro Tequilero Alberto Partida in the small village of Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1477). It is certified additive-free and bottled at 84 proof (42% ABV).
The agave is cooked in a traditional mesquite-wood-fired stone oven without steam, then milled using an automated tahona (traditional stone wheel). Fermentation takes place with the fibers (bagasse) in open-air wooden tanks using spring water and ambient wild yeast. The spirit is distilled in 19th-century copper pot stills, then aged for 12 months in ex-Napa Valley red wine American oak barrels, imparting a distinctive wine-inflected richness.
On the nose, the tequila offers indulgent aromas of glazed donuts, subtle tobacco leaf, and candied dates. The palate delivers bold confectionary flavors of vanilla, caramel, dried cherry, candied plum, sweet potato, black walnut, and subtle marzipan, with a velvety finish.
