Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5° is one of Spain's most iconic wines, produced at Finca Vega Sicilia in the Ribera del Duero region of Castilla y León. This prestigious red wine is predominantly Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), typically 94-97%, with a small percentage of Merlot blended in depending on the vintage.

The wine is aged for five years between oak barrels and bottle, which is the origin of its name "Valbuena 5°." The aging process uses a combination of French and American oak in new and used 225-litre barrels and 20,000-litre wooden vats. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures with native yeast in stainless steel tanks.

The grapes are hand-harvested in 12 kg boxes from vineyards with an average age of 35 years, planted at a density of 2,222 plants per hectare at elevations between 700 and 930 meters. Yields are kept very low at approximately 3,100-3,800 kg/ha. The wine is typically 14-14.5% ABV and is suitable for drinking upon release or cellaring for up to 25 years when stored at 12-14°C and 60% relative humidity. Best served at 18°C (64°F).
