Rieslingfreak No. 44 is a dry-style Eden Valley Riesling from South Australia, crafted by Rieslingfreak — a small, passionate wine producer operated by John and Belinda Hughes and Mark Thomas, dedicated exclusively to the Riesling grape variety.

Fruit for No. 44 is sourced from small, family-owned and run vineyards across the southern ranges of Eden Valley, in and around High Eden, situated approximately 550 metres above sea level. Soils vary from shallow grey sandy loam over shale rock to loam over light medium clay with high quartz rock and gravel content. Eden Valley is celebrated for dry-style Rieslings with distinct regional character, and No. 44 showcases highly perfumed aromatics — white flowers, fresh lime, and lemon balm — along with a slate-like minerality on the palate and a crisp, lingering finish.

Made in a dry style with intent for immediate appeal and absolute approachability, No. 44 is poised for ultimate enjoyment on release while also rewarding short-term cellaring. The 2022 vintage earned 93+ points from Wine Advocate and 93 points from James Halliday.
