Prunotto Barbaresco DOCG is a prestigious Italian red wine produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Barbaresco zone of Piedmont, Italy. Sourced from vineyards in Treiso and Neive, this wine carries the DOCG designation (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita), the highest classification in Italian wine law, and is available at Costco in 6-bottle or 12-bottle case formats.

The winery traces its roots to 1923, when Alfredo Prunotto transformed a struggling Piedmont cooperative into one of the region's most respected estates. Today, Prunotto is owned by the Marchesi Antinori family of Tuscany, who have continued to invest in vineyards and winemaking to uphold Alfredo's legacy.

This Barbaresco pours a luminous, intense garnet red. The nose is complex and refined, with aromas of red fruit, cassis, forest flower, peat moss, and a hint of tobacco that hints at the wine's savory depth. On the palate it is full-bodied yet elegant, offering crushed red berry fruit, cedar, spice, mint, and orange peel in an ethereal, understated style that finishes with a long, velvety persistence. Barbaresco expresses a more feminine, approachable side of Nebbiolo compared to its neighbor Barolo, with softer tannins, delicate fruit, and an elegant floral perfume. The 2021 vintage earned 93+ points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and 90 points from Vinous, making it an exceptional value for a DOCG Piedmontese red.
