Barone Ricasoli Casalferro is a prestigious single-vineyard Merlot produced under the IGT Toscana designation from Castello di Brolio in the heart of Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy. Made from 100% Merlot grapes sourced from three estate vineyards — Vigna Casalferro, Vigna Pecchierino, and Vigna Sodacci — situated at elevations between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, this wine exemplifies the elegance of Tuscan Merlot.
Grapes are hand-harvested in September and vinified through temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with 14–18 days of skin contact. The wine is then aged for 21 months in a combination of tonneaux and barriques, with 30% new oak and 70% second and third passage oak, resulting in a structured yet refined character. Alcohol content is 14.5% by volume.
On the palate, Casalferro offers aromas of fresh violets, black olives, crushed raspberries, and blackberries with hints of dried flowers. It is full-bodied with polished tannins and a fine-velvet texture. This is a cellar-worthy wine with broad critical acclaim and an average market price of approximately $68–$81 per bottle. Each bottle is 750ml.
