Pleasant Ridge Reserve is an award-winning, raw cow's milk Alpine-style cheese from Uplands Cheese in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Often called the most awarded cheese in American cheese history, this washed-rind cheese is modeled after classic Alpine varieties like Gruyère and Beaufort. Made only from May through October while cows graze on open pasture, the cheese benefits from milk enriched by wildflowers, grasses, alliums, and legumes. The curds are cooked and pressed, then washed in brine and aged for a minimum of 9 months. The result is a sweet and savory explosion of flavor with pronounced fruity notes, hints of smoked meat and hazelnuts, and a complex umami quality. The texture features delightful crystals and exceptional meltability, making it perfect for French onion soup or cheese boards. Crafted by legendary cheesemaker Andy Hatch, this seasonal treasure represents the gold standard for American-made Alpine-style cheese.
