Romain Duvernay Vacqueyras is a rich, full-bodied red wine from the Vacqueyras appellation in the Southern Rhône Valley of France. Produced by the négociant house Romain Duvernay—founded with his father Roland and based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape—this wine showcases the classic character of its appellation with a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes grown on the region's distinctive clay-limestone soils and galets roulés (rounded river stones). The wine carries 14.5% alcohol by volume and has earned a 3.8 rating on Vivino across more than 800 reviews.
On the palate, this Southern Rhône red presents a bold, tannic, and dry profile with layered aromas and flavors of dark fruit—blackberries, plum, and black cherry—alongside oak, tobacco, chocolate, black pepper, licorice, and earthy mineral notes. It offers excellent structure and depth characteristic of the Vacqueyras AOC, one of the southern Rhône's most celebrated appellations. The wine has been reviewed by Jeb Dunnuck as part of his comprehensive Southern Rhône assessment and noted by Jancis Robinson's team.
Pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, venison, and hearty Mediterranean dishes. Contains sulfites.
