Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks

Nights in Rodanthe is a romantic novel by New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, published by Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group (HBG). The 224-page story is set in the coastal village of Rodanthe, North Carolina, and follows two recently divorced individuals brought together during a powerful storm.

Adrienne Willis, 45, has traveled to Rodanthe to tend a friend's inn for the weekend, hoping for respite from years of raising teenagers and caring for her ailing father. Paul Flanner, 54, is a successful surgeon whose life has unraveled — estranged from his son and newly divorced, he has sold his practice and journeyed to this isolated town seeking closure. As the storm builds around them, what passes between Adrienne and Paul over a single weekend will intertwine their lives permanently, weaving together love, loss, and the enduring power of connection.

Originally published in September 2002, the novel was adapted into a major motion picture in 2008 starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane. It is one of more than twenty-five New York Times bestsellers by Nicholas Sparks, whose novels have sold over 150 million copies worldwide across fifty languages.
