Cargill's granulated sugar contains not less than 99.85% sucrose and is produced by crystallizing purified, filtered thick juice syrup from sugar beets or sugar cane, then drying and screening to achieve consistent granulation. It is white in color, free of foreign odor, and meets strict microbiological limits. It qualifies as GRAS under U.S. FDA regulations (21 CFR 184.1854) and is labeled as "Sugar" or "Sucrose." Typical applications include bakery products, cereals, candies, dairy products, jams, jellies, condiments, chewing gum, pharmaceuticals, and powdered drink mixes.
