The Calling Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold California red wine sourced from the Paso Robles Estrella District and crafted by winemaker James MacPhail for Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. The wine is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown across approximately 67,000 acres of valley floor and floodplain, where alluvial soils ranging from sandy loams to clay loams, warm days tempered by maritime breezes, and downslope winds create ideal conditions for premium Cabernet.
Deep plum red in color with vibrant hues, the wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, dark cherry, mocha, and warm vanilla spice with subtle hints of nutmeg. On the palate, bold flavors of cherry pie and coffee lead into a rich, warm, and spicy oak finish with soft, approachable tannins. Grapes underwent a cold soak followed by small batch fermentation, then the wine aged 18 months in 100% French Oak barrels with 30-40% new oak, yielding a structured, full-bodied expression with impressive depth and complexity. Alcohol by volume is 14%.
