Chateau La Tour Figeac is a prestigious red Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation in France. The estate is organically farmed and situated on gravelly soils in Saint-Emilion, bordering the renowned Chateaux Figeac and Cheval Blanc. It was separated from Chateau Figeac in 1879 and has held Grand Cru Classé status since Saint-Emilion's first classification in 1955.
The wine is a blend of approximately 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. It presents with aromas of ripe black cherries, mulberries, blueberry preserve, dark chocolate, Christmas spice, and loamy soil. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied with supple, finely polished tannins, a rich layered texture, and vibrant acidity. Notes of cedar, tobacco, liquorice, and minty freshness carry through to a long, spiced finish. Recent vintages have earned scores of 91–95 points from major critics including Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, and Decanter.
This wine is well-suited for cellaring and is capable of aging 15–20 years. It pairs beautifully with roasted meats, lamb, duck, and hard aged cheeses.
