Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2014 is a prestigious red Bordeaux from the Pessac-Léognan appellation within the Graves region of Bordeaux, France. The estate is classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves and is owned by the Cathiard family, who have overseen a remarkable transformation of the property since the late 1980s.
The 2014 vintage is a classic Bordeaux red blend, primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot. The 2014 Bordeaux growing season produced wines of exceptional balance and finesse, with good natural acidity and structured tannins lending excellent aging potential. Smith Haut Lafitte 2014 is known for its deep ruby color, aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, and subtle earthy notes, with a full-bodied palate of dark fruit, tobacco, and fine-grained tannins leading to a long, elegant finish.
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, aged cheeses, and hearty game dishes. It is best enjoyed now through 2035 and should be decanted for at least one hour before serving to allow the wine to fully open.
