The First Editions Little Hottie Panicle Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Bailpanone', PP# 32,549) is a compact, deciduous flowering shrub sold in a 10-inch container, ready to plant in your garden or a large pot. Bred in Georgia specifically for heat tolerance, this variety performs beautifully across a wide range of climates, from USDA Hardiness Zones 3 through 8, making it as at home in Minnesota winters as in Georgia summers.

This shrub matures to a naturally rounded, well-branched form reaching 3 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. Large, cone-shaped flower clusters (panicles) are displayed on strong, upright stems from base to tip of the plant. Blooms emerge greenish in early summer, open to creamy white, and gradually transition to dusky pink as fall temperatures drop. Unlike many hydrangeas, the flowers do not brown or degrade in high heat, and dried blooms persist through winter for added seasonal interest. Because Little Hottie blooms on new wood, it will flower reliably even if twigs are killed back by frost.

Plant in full sun for strongest stems and most abundant blooms; a minimum of six hours of direct sun is recommended, with some afternoon shade beneficial in hot southern regions.
