Château Pétrus is one of the world's most prestigious and sought-after wines, produced from an 11.4-hectare estate nestled on a clay-rich plateau in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. Owned by Jean-François Moueix and his family, the estate crafts its wine exclusively from Merlot grapes grown on vines averaging over 45 years of age, with harvests hand-picked over two to three days. This case contains six bottles of the legendary 2009 vintage, a year widely celebrated as one of the greatest in Pétrus history and one of only a handful of vintages to receive a perfect 100-point score from critic Robert Parker.
The 2009 Pétrus opens with a deep garnet color and an inky purple core. The nose offers complex layers of black cherry, cassis, plum, violets, graphite, truffle, and hints of exotic spice. On the palate the wine is rich and velvety, with immense depth—blackberry, dark chocolate, licorice, and earthy minerality woven together with polished, seamless tannins. The finish is exceptionally long and complex, with lingering dark fruit, spice, and savory notes. Aged between 12 and 16 months in oak barrels, half of which are new, before bottling. Alcohol by volume is approximately 14.5%.
This wine is an ideal acquisition for serious collectors, fine wine investors, and connoisseurs seeking one of the greatest Merlot expressions in the world. Best enjoyed decanted well in advance to unlock its full potential, and capable of evolving gracefully through 2060 and beyond.
