Scarpa Barbaresco Tettineive is a 100% Nebbiolo red wine from the prestigious Barbaresco DOCG appellation of Piedmont, Italy. The grapes are sourced from the Tettineive vineyard — a site at roughly 400 meters above sea level in Neive, on the border between the Langhe and Monferrato hills. The vineyard name, meaning "the roofs of Neive," reflects its elevated position above the town.
Produced by Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa, a family winery established in 1854 in the Monferrato hills, this wine is crafted in the classic, unhurried traditional style. Fermentation takes place in large old truncated conical wooden vats for approximately 25 days, followed by extended aging in large oak casks of 2,000 to 10,000 liters, and then several additional years in bottle before release. This approach yields wines of genuine structure and depth.
In the glass, the Nebbiolo offers aromas of macerated cherries, sweet and savory spices, and dried wild herbs. The palate is rich and generous, with concentrated flavors of cherry conserve, bay leaf, dried leaf, and a hint of smoky, complex oak. Vibrant tannins support a long, lingering finish. This wine drinks well in its youth yet has ample structure for graceful aging. Awarded 91 points and a Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024. Sold as a case of 6 x 750ml bottles.
