A live, edible fig tree (Ficus carica) grown in a 5-gallon container, typically standing 3 to 4 feet tall at time of purchase. Costco garden center fig trees are commonly offered in popular varieties such as Black Mission, Chicago Hardy, and Desert King, prized for their sweet, flavorful fruit and adaptability across a wide range of climates.
Fig trees are deciduous trees that thrive in full sun with well-draining soil. They are self-fertile in most varieties, require minimal care once established, and can be grown directly in the ground or kept in a container for patio or balcony growing. Most trees begin producing fruit within one to two seasons of planting.
Once established, fig trees are drought-tolerant and low-maintenance. Prune in late winter to shape the tree and encourage healthy new growth. The 5-gallon container size gives the root system a strong head start, helping the tree establish quickly after transplanting.
