Domaine Rossignol-Cornu Pommard 1er Cru is a distinguished Burgundy red wine crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the prestigious Pommard Premier Cru appellation of the Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France. The estate has been family-operated since 1840 in the village of Volnay, born from the union of the Rossignol family of Volnay and the Cornu family of Pernand-Vergelesses. Today the domaine spans approximately 6 hectares across Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, and Pernand-Vergelesses, managed by Didier Rossignol and his son Julien.
The wine is produced using sustainable viticulture, with soil ploughing preferred over herbicides and short Guyot pruning to control yields. Grapes are harvested by hand, then destemmed and subject to cold maceration for 6 days to preserve aromas and color. Temperature-controlled fermentation follows over approximately 20 days with regular punching down and pumping over. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (15–20% new oak for Premiers Crus) and an additional 6 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
Tasting notes reveal a dry, medium-to-full-bodied red with red berry fruit — raspberry, red cherry, and hints of black cherry — underpinned by earthy, mineral qualities and notes of licorice and subtle spice. Rated 3.8/5 on Vivino. Pairs exceptionally well with roasted beef, veal, poultry, and game meats. Contains sulfites.
