Les Alliés Gigondas is a bold, expressive red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France, produced under the prestigious Gigondas Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée. Sold in cases of 12 bottles at 750ML each, this wine represents one of France's most celebrated southern Rhône appellations, often regarded as a worthy counterpart to the famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape at a more accessible price point.
Gigondas wines are crafted primarily from Grenache (up to 80%), blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre (minimum 15% combined), with small contributions from other authorized Rhône varieties. The appellation sits at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains in Vaucluse, where a Mediterranean climate and varied elevations up to 600 meters produce wines of notable depth and complexity. The appellation earned its independent AOC designation in 1971 and is known for power, structure, and impressive aging potential.
Les Alliés Gigondas presents a complex nose of fresh rose petals and violets layered over black cherry and wild thyme, with hints of meatiness and stone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, with silky tannins that give way to flavors of plum, thyme, clove, and black tea. Well-balanced acidity supports its power and structure, with the capacity to cellar and develop further complexity over many years.
