A 7-gallon container blueberry bush offering a well-established, landscape-ready plant suitable for home gardens. These nursery-grown blueberry plants typically stand 3-4 feet tall at purchase and are fully rooted in their containers, ready for immediate planting. The 7-gallon pot size (13.5-14 inch diameter) provides a mature specimen that can begin producing fruit sooner than smaller starter plants.
Blueberry bushes are vigorous, upright-growing fruiting plants that mature to 6-10 feet in height and 6-8 feet wide, depending on variety. They produce large, light blue berries with excellent flavor, ripening early to mid-season. These plants feature attractive fall foliage with orange-red coloring and are known for heavy yields with good disease resistance. The dry stem scar on berries makes them especially suited for hand picking in home gardens.
Blueberries thrive in acidic, organically rich, well-drained soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. They require full sun (minimum 6-8 hours daily) for optimal berry production and sweetness. The shallow, fibrous root system benefits from consistent moisture and a layer of organic mulch. While self-fertile, cross-pollination with another blueberry variety produces larger berries and higher yields. Space plants 4-6 feet apart for hedging or 10+ feet for specimen planting. Plants require 450-500 chilling hours and are hardy in USDA zones 7a-9a. With proper care, blueberry bushes can produce fruit for decades, reaching full maturity around 8-10 years.
