Château Haut Brisson is a distinguished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux's prestigious Right Bank, crafted at the historic estate located across the limestone plateau of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse and the gravelly hillsides of Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens. The estate spans 17.94 hectares and has been certified organic since 2010, with biodynamic farming practices employed across much of the vineyard. Winemaking is overseen by renowned consultant Michel Rolland.
The wine is a classic Bordeaux blend led by Merlot (65–95% depending on vintage), complemented by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from vines averaging approximately 30 years of age. Grapes undergo malolactic fermentation in barrel and are then aged for 12 to 15 months in French oak (approximately 30% new), a deliberate choice to preserve freshness and allow the fruit to take center stage. Recent vintages have consistently earned 90–93-point scores from critics including The Wine Cellar Insider and James Suckling.
On the nose, expect aromas of red cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, herbs, and subtle floral notes. The palate is medium-bodied with soft, silky tannins, a juicy mid-palate, and a finish layered with cocoa, spice, and bright red fruit. Best enjoyed with 1–2 hours of decanting, and ideally consumed within 5–15 years of the vintage. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F). Pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, duck, roast chicken, game, mushroom dishes, and rich pasta.
