Château Haut-Brion is one of the world's most celebrated First Growth (Premier Cru Classé) estates, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux, France. The 2022 vintage is composed of 53.6% Merlot, 35.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc, aged in 62.9% new French oak barrels. Available at Costco as a 3-bottle set.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Haut-Brion opens with brooding aromas of iron ore, red roses, lavender, mint tea, and forest floor, with a tantalizing core of plum preserves and blueberry pie. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with tightly knit vibrant black and blue fruit layers and red berry sparks, framed by very fine-grained tannins and a refreshing, minerally backbone. Critics have described notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite, pencil lead, cedar box, peony, violet, incense, scorched earth, and black truffle. The wine earned near-perfect scores across major publications: 99 points (The Wine Independent), 98 points (Wine Spectator, James Suckling, Vinous, Decanter, Jeb Dunnuck), and 97 points (Wine Advocate).

This is a wine built for long-term cellaring. Most experts recommend waiting until at least 2030 before opening, with the potential to evolve magnificently for 50 to 75 years or more given its exceptional balance, concentration, and structure.
