Alexandre Gauvin Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay is a classic white Burgundy from the Mâconnais region in southern Burgundy, France. Produced by Alexandre Gauvin, a well-regarded Burgundy négociant with wines spanning multiple prestigious appellations including Marsannay, Monthélie, Rully, and Maranges, this 750ML bottle showcases the region's signature Chardonnay character at an approachable price point.
The Mâcon-Villages appellation sits in the warmer southern end of Burgundy, where Chardonnay benefits from fuller ripening on chalk and limestone-rich soils. The result is a wine with a light to medium body, typically vinified with little to no oak to preserve the grape's natural freshness. Expect aromas of crisp apple, ripe melon, lemon peel, and delicate floral notes, with a palate of orchard fruit, citrus, and a clean mineral finish.
Best served chilled between 48–55°F (9–13°C), this Chardonnay pairs well with seafood, shellfish, poultry, soft cheeses, and light pasta dishes. Intended for near-term drinking, it is at its best within three to five years of vintage.
