Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin Grand Cuvée is one of the most prestigious and sought-after red wines from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in France's Rhône Valley. Produced by the Perrin family at their historic estate dating back to 1549, this exceptional cuvée is made only in the finest vintages, with the debut vintage being 1989. Production is extremely limited, averaging just 350 cases per year.

The wine is dominated by old-vine Mourvedre, which typically constitutes up to 60% of the blend, with the remainder made up of old-vine Grenache, Counoise, and Syrah. This Mourvedre-driven composition sets it apart from the estate's standard Châteauneuf-du-Pape and gives the wine remarkable depth, complexity, and extraordinary aging potential. Grapes are destemmed and vinified separately before aging approximately 12 to 18 months in used French oak barrels.

On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated with layers of dark red and black fruits, peppery spice, grilled meat, wet earth, truffle, and garrigue. The tannins are dense yet refined, and the finish is exceptionally long. This wine requires significant bottle age — it does not begin to show its full character without at least a decade of cellaring — and is considered among the longest-lived wines in all of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, often drinking beautifully 20 to 35 years after the vintage. Serve at approximately 60°F and decant for 2 to 3 hours before serving. Pairs exceptionally well with roasted lamb, game, beef, duck, and rich braised dishes.
