Old Fitzgerald 9 Year Bottled in Bond is a premium wheated Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey aged for 9 years and bottled at 100 proof. This release is part of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series, which honors both the historic brand legacy dating back to 1884 and the prestigious Bottled-in-Bond designation established in 1897. The bourbon features a "Whisper of Wheat" mashbill, using wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain, which imparts a rounder, softer flavor profile compared to traditional bourbons.
Produced by Heaven Hill Distillery at the historic Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, this bourbon adheres to strict Bottled-in-Bond federal regulations: distilled in a single season by one distiller at one distillery, aged at least four years in federally bonded warehouses, reduced in proof by pure water only, and bottled at exactly 100 proof. The presentation features a vintage-inspired diamond decanter design that pays tribute to the original 1950s Old Fitzgerald bottle, complete with a label bearing the brand's iconic key symbol representing "Your key to hospitality."
Tasting notes reveal cinnamon, oak, brown sugar, and nutty aromas on the nose. The palate opens with light vanilla and caramel, followed by oaky tannins, raisins, subtle lavender, honeyed notes, and toffee. The finish is sweet and concise with hints of oak, chocolate, and baking spices. Each spring and fall, Heaven Hill releases a new edition in the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond series with varying age statements. This package contains three 750ml bottles.
