Alter Ego de Palmer is the acclaimed second wine of the prestigious Château Palmer, a Troisième Grand Cru Classé (Third Growth) estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. Originally sold as 'La Réserve du Général' until 1998, Alter Ego has established itself as one of Bordeaux's most celebrated second wines, crafted from the same estate vineyards and reflecting the same meticulous approach as the grand vin.

This 2022 vintage (Récolte 2022) is made from a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, grown under certified organic, biodynamic, and sustainable farming practices on the Palmer estate in Margaux. The wine presents a deep, dark, nearly opaque purple-red color. The nose is intensely aromatic with violet perfume, prune, and raisin. On the palate it is rich and ripe, delivering generous chocolatey notes alongside flavors of black cherry, sweet black licorice, olive, raisin, mulberry, and sweet spices. Tannins are rounded and ripe, with warmth in the finish and a long, high-toned close of black fruit, plum, chocolate, and sweet spices. An excellent pairing with beef, venison, and hearty braised meat dishes.
