Château Dauzac 2022 is a prestigious red Bordeaux blend from the Margaux appellation in the Médoc, produced by one of Bordeaux's classified estates. Château Dauzac holds the distinction of being a 5ème Grand Cru Classé (Fifth Growth) in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification, a designation that has endured for over 170 years as a benchmark of quality in French wine. The estate is located in Labarde, at the southern end of the Margaux commune.
The 2022 vintage is blended from approximately 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, aged 75% in new French oak barrels and 5% in amphora. It delivers an aromatic bouquet of flowers, espresso, black cherries, blackberries, and blackcurrant, leading to a palate that balances ripe, round-textured black fruit with polished tannins and a long finish. Critics note bright, fresh acidity, violet and iris florals, graphite minerality, and a seamless, tensile structure indicative of great aging potential. Professional scores range from 92 to 96 points, with James Suckling awarding 96 points, Vinous 94 points, and Wine Spectator 94 points. The recommended drinking window is 2028–2055, though the wine shows considerable charm now.
