Château Duhart-Milon is a prestigious 1855 Bordeaux Fourth Growth (Quatrième Cru Classé) located in the Pauillac appellation of the Left Bank Médoc. Purchased by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1962, the estate shares its northern Pauillac terroir with its famous neighbor Château Lafite Rothschild. The vineyards sit on the Milon hillside, planted in a single large block of gravel, sand, and limestone soils that impart distinctive freshness and minerality to the wine.
The 2022 grand vin is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, vinified parcel-by-parcel in 40 temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, then aged 14 to 16 months in 50% new French oak barrels. The 2022 vintage was shaped by a warm, dry growing season that concentrated the fruit while careful vineyard management preserved freshness and acidity. The result is a structured, full-bodied Pauillac with classic blackcurrant, dark chocolate, lead pencil, graphite, and tobacco character, with fine intense tannins and excellent aging potential.
Awarded 96 Points by both James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck, the 2022 Duhart-Milon is considered one of the château's finest recent vintages alongside 2019, 2020, and 2021. It is best enjoyed with red meats, lamb, and aged hard cheeses, and will reward cellaring for 15 to 25 years.
