Château La Gaffelière is a prestigious estate in the heart of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, owned by the Malet Roquefort family and situated on prime limestone hillside vineyards adjacent to Château Ausone. This 2022 vintage is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc sourced from 22 hectares of classic Saint-Émilion limestone soils, incorporating 10% whole-bunch fermentation for added complexity. The wine was aged for 19 months in a combination of 50% new French oak and 50% neutral barrels, achieving remarkable balance between fruit expression and structure.

The 2022 received extraordinary critical acclaim across the board: 100 points from Vinous, 99 points from Jeb Dunnuck, 97 points each from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling, and 96 points from both Decanter and Wine Spectator. Aromas of violet, dark berries, lavender, mint, blood orange, licorice, cherries, and smoke flow from the glass, underscored by clean mineral notes and graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a pure, seamless mouthfeel, ripe yet powdery tannins, and a long, saline, tension-filled finish that speaks eloquently of its limestone terroir.
