Château Nénin is a prestigious Right Bank Bordeaux estate located in the Pomerol appellation, owned by Jean-Hubert Delon of Château Léoville Las Cases since 1997. The Delon family purchased the property from the Despujol family, who had cultivated its vineyards since 1840. Set on approximately 32 hectares with 25 in active production, the estate occupies a single contiguous block surrounded on two sides by the legendary Château Trotanoy, with a smaller parcel near Le Pin. The 19th-century stone château is one of the grandest in the appellation.
The 2022 vintage is a blend of 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Franc, harvested September 1–23. The winemaking team at Nénin employs partial malolactic fermentation in barrel to add a creamy dimension to the aroma and palate while preserving the wine's characteristic structure. The result is intensely fragrant and floral, with aromas of dark cherries, violets, sweet berries, rose petals, blackberry, chocolate, and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and deep, with velvety tannins, rich red and black fruit, and layered notes of blood orange, mint, cinnamon, espresso, and cedar. Alcohol is 14%.
The 2022 Nénin received outstanding critical acclaim, earning 94–95 points from James Suckling, 93–95 from William Kelley of Wine Advocate, 94 from Decanter, 92–94 from both Antonio Galloni and Jeb Dunnuck at Vinous, and 16.5/20 from Jancis Robinson MW. Critics consistently note the wine's opulence, balance, and cellaring potential. Best drinking is projected from 2027 through 2049.
