Château Ormes de Pez 2022 is a red Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Médoc, produced at one of the region's most celebrated Cru Bourgeois estates. Owned since 1940 by the Cazes family, who also oversees the renowned Château Lynch Bages in Pauillac, Ormes de Pez is crafted by the same expert winemaking team, ensuring consistently high quality. The estate's 40-hectare vineyard is planted on soils of gravel, clay, and sand, with vines averaging 30 years of age.

The 2022 vintage is a blend of 51% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Following fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, the wine undergoes partial barrel malolactic fermentation and is then aged in 45% new French oak for approximately 16 months before bottling. Around 18,000 cases are produced each year.

The 2022 shows a deep garnet color and aromas of fresh cherry, black currants, spice, cedar, and leafy tobacco. On the palate it is medium-bodied and vibrant, with well-rounded tannins and a long, peppery black fruit finish that merges harmoniously with the complexity from barrel aging. Critical scores range from 90 to 94 points (James Suckling 93–94; Neal Martin/Vinous 92–94; Antonio Galloni/Vinous 91–93; Wine Advocate 90–92). Best enjoyed from 2025–2042, young bottles benefit from 1–2 hours of decanting. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F). Pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, duck, game, roasted and braised meats, and a range of hard and soft cheeses.
